MICHIGAN CITIZENS for COUGAR RECOGNITION
September, 2007 Horse Attack - 6th Avenue, Gobles

The week of September 9, 2007, an 18 year old horse was attacked on 6th Avenue, just west of M-40 in Gobles. It is believed the horse was attacked in the back pasture in the nighttime. An investigation of the injuries showed razor sharp cuts in the horse's flesh and matching marks on either side of the horse for a total of 10 visible injuries. The farm has no barbed wire on the premises. The pasture showed signs of scuffle in the dirt where horse hoofs dug in. Within 150' of the pasture, fresh cougar tracks were found in the soft mud around a small pond.
