MICHIGAN CITIZENS for COUGAR RECOGNITION
Allegan County Trailcam Photos

The photos above were taken on August 27, 2005 at 9:04 p.m. (deer) and 9:07 p.m. (cat). The trail camera was posted at the corner of 110th Avenue and 7th Street, Plainwell, Michigan, by Jerry P. (map)

Trail cam photos make excellent forensic evidence. First, they post the date and time of the photo. Second, size and location of the animals in the photos can be verified by other photos because of the background consistency. What is particularly nice about these two particular photos is that they also show stalking predatory prey as the cat follows the deer within three minutes.

These photos were taken in August, 2005, the same month that a horse foal was killed within three miles. If you look at the Allegan County sightings log, you'll notice that many of those sightings occur within miles of the Plainwell DNR Field Office. In fact, if you stop in at the Airport Diner directly across the street from the Plainwell DNR Office, customers will spend hours recalling local cougar sightings.
